The way a lot of football fans have been treated over the years has been awful, in my lifetime stretching back to Thatcher's Football Spectators Act in 89, but I'm not aware of anyone who hasn't been convicted having to surrender passports and stay away from somewhere, correct me if I'm wrong there though.

How would the same thing work with terror suspects, practically speaking? Would GMP have told the killer on Monday to stay away from Arena specifically? Would it have made any difference?

I don't class right wing extremism as as big a threat as Islamic extremism, but out of the thousands on the government suspect list, a percentage of them aren't Muslims, so the question should be asked, do we treat them the same whatever their motivations? Two of the five terrorist attacks involving loss of life in this country in this past decade were carried by right wing extremists. I personally don't care what ideology an extremist has; religious, political, racial, religious etc.
