I guess the hope was that with a decent pre-season behind him, Morata might come good and after the money invested in him, the club probably felt they needed to give him a second chance after a patchy first season. I think he’s been even worse than anyone other than his harshest critics would have imagined. I suppose at least the club aren’t letting it drag out for another six months and have basically admitted it’s not going to work with him, so are doing what both the manager and the player wants here.
