352, Batman up front with Costa, both get a brace. 4-0 doom and gloom postponed for a week.

I was annoyed by yesterday and the Liverpool game, but two bad performances do not a bad season make.

We were tenth fair and square last season, we've improved a little (mainly fitness and focus), but all the 'stalwarts' are another year older (and still being handed new deals by the club... even when there was no manager there!).

Loads of people suggesting Roman or others are picking the team - Yeah, because we have loads of alternatives! The fact is we have several other managers' expensive signings on long term deals, not that straightforward to get rid.

It will take Conte a couple of years at least to get a squad remotely with the profile of player he wants. People going on about Klopp, but that's only this season - his record was the same as Rodgers last season!

We've made some progress under Conte but there's shitloads more needed. I think he would admit to being complacent in the last couple of league games, but I think he saw enough in that first 45 mins to know what he needs to do short term.

The question is whether Conte will be allowed to do it. The last 4 or 5 managers haven't.

Probably not tbh. The people making the decisions that matter don't seem to grasp (repeatedly) that this football business takes more than signing one or two players a season.

This is why I felt so disillusioned about this season, during the summer (and well before that of course!) The fact the club always punish managers for their own failings will continue to go on it seems DFS Any faith I had in that changing ended the day they chose the cnuts in this squad over Mourinho

He will be on the beach sunning himself before Christmas. I'll be very surprised if this next six weeks ends particularly well.

I'm hoping he will stumble on something good before 6 weeks is up.

Yes 'stumble on something'.

This all has the air predictability about it.

You really think that?

I'd be amazed if they give him the boot this season, never mind before Christmas. If that did happen I'd suggest turning up at the ground with pitchforks and flaming torches!

I can't help but think he's doing a reasonable job with what he has.

I remember laughing/scoffing in summer of 2015 when people said title-winning Mourinho would be gone by Christmas [sad]

I'm not saying sack him J, although he does leave me a tad underwhelmed. I just don't think he'll last. Liverpool was the start of a tough run of games where we'd know at the end of it if we'd actually progressed at all which was going to be nigh on impossible with the same defence as last year with Luiz added.

On the evidence seen so far, we've regressed and the likes of Arsenal & Liverpool have improved, albeit marginally. United & Spurs will improve, City appear to have, so that will leave us fighting it out with Everton, Southampton & Leicester for places 6 to 10. All it will need is some more dodgy performances against Hull, Southampton followed by defeats by Spurs (god forbid) and City by early Dec and they will get rid.

The only proven, consistent thing we know about our club is that they don't value managers and they are expendable ahead of the players who are vastly overrated by the club and a number on here.

Right beside that [^]

I desperately want Conte to succeed but I can't help feel time is against him. We know Roman doesn't mess about. I feel for Conte but imo he's not doing nearly enough to get us ticking. It's failed for a while and he hasn't even spotted a basic flaw. Perhaps he has now...I live the dream.
