Moved to England September 76 so that was my first season. Having been a regular at the Riazor there were some similarities, both grounds then had running tracks (well, the space for a running track in the case of the Bridge), although the crowds at Chelsea were bigger as Deportivo were in the doldrums for a very long time in the 70s and 80s and had never really been a big team even before that. You never got away fans in Spain back then and certainly there was seldom any trouble at all apart from the odd drunk abusing the ref. Used to go in the top tier of the then still new East Stand, a lot of times on freebie as one of my Dad's mates used to serve the players their pre match meal and he would get tickets from them. Bates put a stop to all of that, and quite rightly so, it was a p*ss take basically how many tickets the players were distributing. R1der will remember most of this although he is younger than me.
