Coming soon........where will Chelsea go to play a lucrative friendly. Man City will definitely be Abu Dhabi or Qatar, I can't remember which one sponsors them.

Long overdue winter break, I think. Wouldn’t have a problem if the club went and played a friendly somewhere nice, must be better than the winter slog that they currently have to go through. Will save the fans a bit of money around Christmas/January period as well

It’s due to take place in February...and there wouldn’t actually be a ‘break’ in the football...Half the teams would have their fixtures one week, then the other half the next. Meaning each club would get a week off. Either the first week, or the second.

That sounds sensible tbf.

That’s a shame as I think we play too much football around the Christmas/New Year period at the moment, but worth a try to see if it works.

Another nail.

Whilst I’m not saying a winter break would suddenly turn England in to World Champions, it’s clear from the major international tournaments that Premier League players are knackered come the summer. Last three winners of the World Cup all have winter breaks. It’s got to be worth a try to see if it helps.

Fcuk international football it's shite anyway and to revive it it needs to be played at the end of the domestic season only.

As for the players being knackered it does not add when you look at the games the top top players play and still manage to perform att the world cup regardless of who the final winners are.

And as if winter was not bleak enough already a footie break will make it far worse.

I’m not a huge fan of international football myself and I would prefer to see it condensed into one spell at the end of a season, but that’s not going to happen. And when the rest of the top leagues are doing something which is working for them and we’re not doing it, it’s worth a try.

There’s a pattern of PL players across many countries not being up to their usual standards, once it gets to a summer tournament. It’s got to be worth trying a break to see if that has any impact.
England having a better chance in tournaments would just be one of many possible benefits.

I like winter, and I’d much rather spend time with family etc. than worrying about Chelsea losing every two or three days. But as said elsewhere, the festive schedule is going to remain regardless and there is still going to be football during the break, due to how they’re spreading it out.

The problem I see is domestic clubs pull players from international duty if they sneeze. I actually think Chelsea are excellent at respecting a players duty to their international careers but no so Liverpool, United, Spurs etc. Until the clubs back national football no amount of breaks will help us...imo.

Whilst I don’t believe this break is about helping international teams/players, it could be one of the eventual by-products. As I say, hasn’t done the other top League’s players much harm over the past couple of decades or so
