Football gone madder than ever.
I bet Napoli can't believe their luck.
Is this now the going rate?
What is the worth of Messi and Ronaldo or Aguero /Suarez/ Neymar?
tV money is driving this to ridiculous levels, can only widen gap between football fans and their clubs
it's beyond bonkers.
These prices can't keep inflating at this rate, what next, £150m for a bloke who's knee could go in the next game.
Hope the bubble bursts one day & we get down to reasonable(ish) valuations.
on a plus point, Obi Mikel's must be worth £15m at today's rates.... let's cash out.
Given the market we've got now, this figure is what I'd expect for a striker who's been as excellent as he has. I'd certainly have him over some of the other names you've mentioned.
If you're Juventus, you're paying that for the man who single-handedly stopped the title race being decided in your favour months before it actually was, because he was literally scoring great goals to win games week after week for Napoli.
As fans we have to recalibrate what we think about transfer values. The PL TV deal figures are staggering and the next one is already going to dwarf even those eye-watering amounts. Also with the Chinese teams now also contributing in inflating the market, you're looking at pretty much £15m as standard for relatively average players.
In Naples at the moment.. Every taxi driver I've spoken to is fuming... Not about the fee but the fact he's accepted to go to Juve and the club sold him to their rival... If they spunk 45 mill on Icardi to replace him it will be like when we gave liverpool all the Torres money and they used it on Andy Carroll!!
