from the back?
or
from me. Draws opposition forward players high and leaves gaps if we can play the right pass. Seems everyone is doing it now though.
with a little bit of
When it works we have good possession and bags of space for the excellent movement we have. Just need to get a little better at it and the more we employ it the better we will be at it...in theory.
Depends on the situation.
if it's the obvious ball to Dave (again) putting him under pressure to force him into a pressured pass to Teebo, who then lumps it upfield to the smallest player on the pitch.
We did that 3,000 times yesterday which got everyone frustrated.
I see it as getting 2 or 3 opponents into your back line and being good enough to quick pass out and forward - leaving them in the hole they dug and offside. It's gotta be timed right and the long ball out has to also be an acceptable option...as we saw Luiz do yesterday and before.
We will come a cropper doing the short stuff but I see many positives happening from it.
Hmm, we almost came a cropper yesterday.
Seems to put a lot of pressure on the wing back.
It makes me squirm and feel uneasy but I see the value in it mate. When/if we do master it teams won't press so high. That may have to come with the employment of new players in the long term.
We will live on the edge and close to a cropper but it appears the Conte way. I do feel we have to compliment Spurs a little here, they did the maths on us but couldn't live with us for the entire 90 minutes. They tried to nullify us from starting at the back but never really mastered our attacking play in the second half...2 halves to a game as they say.
It's a good thing to have in your locker but it's about the type of players you have back there doing it, in terms of quality and their footballing intelligence in knowing when to do it.
We lost five points at Swansea and Arsenal by gifting them goals, unnecessarily dicking about with it at the back every single time.
I brick it. ☺
In an ideal world
But when 4 of your back 5 every week are going to be from cahill, azpi, alonso, moses, zouma or branna then ![[v]](../images/smilies/disapprove.gif)
I do get a bit annoyed when we get a free kick on the halfway line and play it back to the keeper who then under pressure lumps it up. If we're just going to lump it up then do it from the halfway line. Overall I am not against playing out from the back even if over a season it leads to a few panicky moments, but I don't mind an agricultural clearance if the situation demands it.
