Can remember my uncle coming round to ask my mum and dad if I could go to the game with him.. what a start to life as a Chelsea fan!!
Haha, we beat Liverpool 4-2 the following week to more or less hand Arsenal the title.
I was at this as well. Travelled up with local youth club and was sat in the the forest end. Had been to few aways in and around London but was my first long haul. Amazed I ever did it again really
I was there as well. After a while we just accepted it was going to be a bad day and sang non-stop for the last half hour. We were singing "Always look on the bright side of life"
It was the fans that won me over .. definitely not the team! I'd only ever watched football in the old division 4 before that.. was quite an eye opener!
Me too, was at Nottingham Poly
First game was a pre season friendly/family day in about 83. Blues (first team) vs Yellows (reserves). Went with my parents and had a picnic on the north terrace (away end). Although the old man had taken my mum when she was pregnant with me to a game so I suppose technically that was my first. Only times she's been to the Bridge, amazing they're together really, she hates football!
V QPR. 1993. Early in the season. We won 2-0. It was a night game and my Dad made me go with him and my brother as there was no one to look after me as my nan & grandad were on holiday. I was in a strop as I didn't want to go....My dad regrets that decision to this day as he paid for pretty much all my games from the age of 10 to 32
Wrexham away 1982 lost 1-0 glamour! Aged 4 shoes confiscated... chelsea here, chelsea there

Pre-season vrs Derry City on 21st July 1992 which finished 1-1. Think Newton scored and just remember us being really poor.
I got to meet most of the players afterwards and remember Beasant, Cascarinio and Elliott all making a real effort to chat to everyone ![[^]](../images/smilies/approve.gif)
My first game was in late Nov '71 against those rats from North London.
I was 7 and my brother was 9 we travelled down from St. Albans as my mum had allowed us to go to the St. Albans City game that day at Clarence park. On the way to the park my brother just casually said "fancy going to see the Chelsea" and that was it, neither of us really had a clue where we were going but Nev (my brother) had a some birthday money left over and a hand written list of how to get there from my Granddad who had been working in West London with a pound note pinned to it, and so off we went. We jumped the fence behind the main stand and walked up the tracks to the platform and got on the first train into London, after getting off at St Pancras we headed into the tube and down to Fulham Broadway, shitting ourselves.
The first thing i remember when climbing the concrete stairs behind the shed was the darkness, the darkness of the sky, the darkness of the police in uniform and mood, the darkness of the sky it was like slate grey, and the coldness, I was freezing but i do remember cresting the top of the stairs and seeing the illuminated emerald green pitch, I was hooked, we somehow ended up by the tea bar probably by the smell of the Bovril. The game was a blur with me standing shivering up against the Tea Bar for warmth and occasionally getting a pat on the head from these huge blokes who were nearly always in the way. We got a better view of the play in the second half and when we scored the noise was unbelievable, (Charlie Cooke), I was hooked again.
We walked out of the ground after and were channeled away from the pockets of trouble here and there by various concerned men and the old bill and ended up at Earls Court tube station which threw us and it was different from our route there but we eventually got to St Pancras and on a train home to an almighty good hiding from our mum.
It was worth it,
And in a wonderful slice of symmetry my sons first game was too against them and it too ended 1-0 to us with a wonderful goal by Ricky Carvalho back in 2007 he was only 3, (my son and not Ricky C.)
Great Thread M.
I can't remember my first game. My Dad took me once when I was very very young round about 1970/71 but he can't remember what game it was, we then went back to Spain for a few years, in 74/75 I started going to watch Deportivo and then late summer 1976 I moved to London for good so my first game then was either Carlisle or Plymouth (I have looked it up) but I would have to dig out the old programmes to confirm which one.
